Making Ceramics in Tiwanaku

While life is buzzing about the family compound, the workshop is one of my favorite places to be.  My father and his brothers learned how to carefully craft and fire earthenware ceramics from their father just as they are teaching me.  Clay working is a trade with a certain degree of esteem because we are responsible for making many of the thousands of ritual vessels used in the temple ceremonies.  Usually the ceremonial items would not be made here in our home, but we happen to have some for you to see today because we are holding them for a priest-client of ours.
